It is clear that development of top caliber arms was not their strong suit and after repeatedly sending Arrieta to sports psychologists and second guessing him, I think he would have failed with the Orioles. Sending him to the National League was good for his career and netted the Orioles more help in their win now mode.

Machado is a core, but Schoop and Davis are more PR showpieces. Well, Davis definitely, Schoop, uncertain. Davis is not young, not spectacular, and a boat anchor with his salary. Schoop does have more upside with his age, but there is a lot of differing opinions in where his ceiling is.

I agree that until the Orioles change their overall spending and development philosophy, that they will be putting that turnip into the press until it is reduced to powder.redgiantstarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11447057595467192184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2893512317902577458.post-74475066090231541862016-11-12T09:20:18.113-05:002016-11-12T09:20:18.113-05:00You can't make a strategy for 2017 without ser...You can't make a strategy for 2017 without serious evaluation of Gausman and Bundy. Do they have the long-term upside of being legitimate top-of-the-line starters or not? I would not dismiss the possibility for either pitcher, especially since it is self-evident that the team lacked the patience or ability to get Arrieta fully developed as an ace. If the Orioles can get Gausman and Bundy to contribute to their best of their potential, then a new window opens up for a team built on a more solid foundation of starting pitching and supplemented by a core of Machado, Schoop and Davis. If that's not viable, then we should be blowing this thing up pretty soon.John Morganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01258086312217768014noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2893512317902577458.post-86893015734671449022016-11-11T18:18:43.076-05:002016-11-11T18:18:43.076-05:00as much as I hate to say this but since it is obvi...as much as I hate to say this but since it is obvious that there is virtually NO chance of keeping Manny, wouldn't it make sense to trade him BEFORE his walk year? no one will trade for him then as they could just wait for him to go FA. I know that would mean it's rebuilding time but better to do so sooner than later. maybe the wait and see til the break outlook should also include him as well as Britton. either that or Pete opens the purse and goes WAY above and signs Manny to a long extension?tony2302https://www.blogger.com/profile/14464582714647079915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2893512317902577458.post-21161029260863439592016-11-11T15:12:07.281-05:002016-11-11T15:12:07.281-05:00Kevin Worley?

I'm not happy about President Trump, but the DNC has only itself to blame. Pipnoreply@blogger.com
